Did you know that your dog could get a sunburn? Well he can especially on their nose. This is seen a lot in light color dogs. Also keep in mind that hot surfaces like the ground can burn their paws. So on very hot days only take your puppy out for walks in the shaded area and have him drink lots of water. You should either walk in the morning or evening when the temp is lower.

Did you know that: There are 42 teeth present in adult dogs. There are 12 incisors, 4 canine teeth, 16 premolars, and 10 molars. Puppies only have 28 deciduous teeth.(watch out puppy teeth are sharp)…
Romeo has been good for a while now, so I new it would come to an end soon. He has now decided that he does not like his dog food any more. He use to love this food. Now he goes over to his bowl, takes out a piece walks over to the carpet and drops it there and looks at me. He will not eat it, no matter how hungry he is. I can not figure out what’s change. Has the manufacture changed the formula, I don’t know. So now he want all of his meals home cooked (that is unless I can find another brand that he will like). This dog is very picky it’s a good thing he is so cute.
Your puppy’s first thunderstorm could be a time you will never forget. The best way to help him through this is to do nothing. Act as normal as you can. If you show emotion to the storm or start to baby him it will keep up his fear and he will develop a phobic reaction to each storm. Sot it is better that you continue reading your book or watching TV as if it is just another ordinary day…
I always knew that it was important to go to a good breeder or a shelter for a dog, but I understand even better now. A friend of mine got a Jack Russell puppy from a supposable breeder. Well this puppy was 6 weeks old, had worms, no shot, loaded with fleas, ticks and a bacterial infection in his eyes. The only good thing was that the puppy was free, well that was until the puppy was taken to the vet and the bill was over $600.00. And to top it off it is not even a Jack Russell pure bread. He’s mixed with something that will only be determined once he gets a little older. My advice is to be careful and know what your getting yourself into.
Your puppy should have a beautiful glossy coat, this is a sign of a healthy puppy. Some signs that indicate that there is a problem is:
1)Licking
2)Nibbling
3)Scratching
The way your dogs coat will look is a dull looking coat, hot spot, bare patches, rashes, more shedding than usual, mating, dandruff just to name a few.
What can cause this is a fungal or bacterial infection, eczema, acne, injury from a foreign object that lead to an infection. Some dog are also allergic to inhalants so you need to be careful of the products you use in your house. Best way to keep an eye on your puppy’s coat is with regular grooming and good food products that are free of harmful chemicals. Try giving him more of homemade dog food than commercially process packed or canned dog food. And it’s not a bad idea to give him supplements as well to make sure he has a good balance diet. Follow these simple step you will be on your way to having a healthy puppy. Always remember that if his coat starts to look our of the ordinary then make a trip to your vet.
Did you know that most dogs sleep a total of nearly twelve hours a day? That means they spend nearly half of their lives sleeping. (It must be nice).
Now that summer is here we want to take our puppy out for a spin. Be careful your puppy can have a reaction to the heat just as easy as you do. Did you know on a 85 degree day the temperature inside your car even with the windows cracked could be up to 102 degrees in as short as ten minutes and after a half hour it could go up to 120 degrees.
Here are some signs of heat stroke for your dog:
Bright red tongue
Rapid panting
Gums will be red at first, then turn pale as heat stroke progresses
Exhaustion
Agitation
Vomiting
Shock
Thick sticky saliva
Dry mouth as heat stroke progresses
As always with any of these signs and symptoms you should consult your vet.
Just like everyone I was shocked to hear about the death of Michael Jackson. I has thought there was nothing I could write about on my site that related to his all too early death, well Romeo changed that. Today I have been watching VH1 and seeing all of the old video’s that I grew up with (some I don’t remember), so of course I ended up singing and dancing. Well I guess at some point Romeo has had enough of me. He is fine as long as it is just Michael singing but the minute that I start he starts to bark. Is that his way of telling me to shut up? And now he has grown so tired of me that he has left the room. He is never out of my site or in a room by himself, but he is today. I guess I can take the hint. I will sing no more and just say Michael Jackson I will miss you…
