Kooikerhondje
This dog is similar in size and appearance to a spaniel. their coat is somewhat thick, and medium length. It is bi-colored with white and chestnut red being the most common.

Distinctive features are the black tips on its long, feathered ears, which look like earrings. It is said that the longer the earrings, the more desirable the dog is for breeding and showing.

Their legs are often moderately feathered, while its tail is ideally heavily feathered with white fur. Its muzzle is fairly thin sort of like a spaniel’s. The eyes are dark and tend to have an alert expression.

This dog was bred as an all-purpose dog. They are friendly, yet watchful temperament also makes them a ideal watchdog and family companion. Kooikerhondje can be easily trained without much stress on the trainer. The like and lots and lots of the personal attention.

They will do better when he or she has a great deal of opportunity for exercise. Outdoor or rural areas are ideal, but suburban area can work if nearby parks that is large enough to fulfill the Kooiker’s need for energetic activity. Also keep in mind that a fenced area is helpful to keep the Kooiker from chasing small animals and getting lost.

The first sign to tell that you are dealing with a disreputable breeder is, the breeder claims that their puppies are purebred but does not show any papers. Here are other signs to watch out for:

1) The breeder wants you to take the puppy home before the puppy is 7 weeks of age.
2) There is a large number of dogs on-site
3) The puppy’s look under weight
4) The breeder does not ask any question from you.

How do you know you are dealing with a reputable breeder? Here are some questions you should ask the breeder:

Have your puppies been vaccinated? If so which vaccination were given and when?
Do you temperament test your litters?
Have your dogs earned any competition titles (Only if that matters to you)
Are your puppies tattooed or microchipped for identificaiton?
Have you paper trained the puppies
Do you have any references?
