Today I was awaken at 4:30AM on a Sunday by Romeo, because he was hungry. He brought his empty dog dish to me to show me that there was nothing in there. Of course it was one of those days where I did not have anything cooked for him. So off to the store I go to buy him some food, something quick and simple so I can go back to bed for a little while longer. Well guess what it did not happen. The food I got he turned his nose up to it. I’ve spoiled him. He sniffed it and I guess he did not like what he smelled because he just sat there looking at me with those big brown eyes, and the next thing I knew I was cooking food for him. So much for extra sleep.
I just took a personality quiz about Romeo and here are the results:
THE ARISTOCRAT
When they rise in the morning, you rise. They expect you to clean, feed, play with and entertain them whenever their heart desires. If they have a craving for lamb and rice today, they won’t settle for anything less. They prefer luxuries such as fine silk collars and porcelain bowls. They want you to prove your loyalty to them before they hand theirs over to you. To get into their inner circle quickly, come bearing gifts.
Oh no what to do look what I’ve raised.
Well Romeo and I have been on an extended stay in California. Romeo is no stranger to flying on a plane. However the vet’s recommendation to give him Benadryl to make him go to sleep on the flight. First off it did not work. Lucky for me the flight was not full so I was able to keep Romeo on the seat next to me. As long as he could see me and look around he was good to go in his carrier (he’s very nosy).
What I did learn while we were on out trip to California is that now that Romeo had his teeth pulled he snore. It’s not a soft snore, he sounds like a adult person. I can’t believe how loud he is, he was nothing like this before he had some teeth remove. People on the plane kept looking at me and did not believe that it was my dog…
Poor Romeo,
He had to have 13 teeth removed. The way I found out was by accident. I thought he had a scratch under his eye from the rose bushes that he loves to smell. But it turns out that was not the case. I took him to the groomers and she thought the same thing until she started to trim his face, and notices a hole from a abscess that was related to his teeth. Fortunate his groomer is associated with a Vet’s office. She let the Dr. take a look and found out that he had a sever problem with his teeth and needed surgery as soon as possible. He could not believe that poor Romeo was not showing that he was in pain. I never had any sign that he had a problem. So of course I told the Vet to take care of him right away and $800 later and 13 teeth later, Romeo is doing fine.
The moral of the story, keep an eye on your pet, look for any signs of behavior changes that can alert you that he or she is not feeling well. And a good thing to have would be pet insurance, I know I wish I had it.
Romeo has been good for a while now, so I new it would come to an end soon. He has now decided that he does not like his dog food any more. He use to love this food. Now he goes over to his bowl, takes out a piece walks over to the carpet and drops it there and looks at me. He will not eat it, no matter how hungry he is. I can not figure out what’s change. Has the manufacture changed the formula, I don’t know. So now he want all of his meals home cooked (that is unless I can find another brand that he will like). This dog is very picky it’s a good thing he is so cute.
Just like everyone I was shocked to hear about the death of Michael Jackson. I has thought there was nothing I could write about on my site that related to his all too early death, well Romeo changed that. Today I have been watching VH1 and seeing all of the old video’s that I grew up with (some I don’t remember), so of course I ended up singing and dancing. Well I guess at some point Romeo has had enough of me. He is fine as long as it is just Michael singing but the minute that I start he starts to bark. Is that his way of telling me to shut up? And now he has grown so tired of me that he has left the room. He is never out of my site or in a room by himself, but he is today. I guess I can take the hint. I will sing no more and just say Michael Jackson I will miss you…
Romeo been very good lately. Staying out of
mischief. So I decided to buy him some new treats. I knew I was taking a chance because he has to be the world’s pickiest eater. Half of the treats that I buy him he takes one sniff and walks away. Well this time I hit the jackpot, he love the treats so much that now he doesn’t want to eat his regular food.
He knows where I keep his treats and every time I look up he is standing there looking at the cabinet then back at me, as if to say you know what I want. So now what do I do? In case you want to give this treat a try here it is:

Merrick Gourmet Sausages Cowboy Cookout

Well I tried to make it up to Romeo and buy him a toy for the one I forgot. But I made another mistake. I came home and placed the bags on the floor like always, Romeo happily went over to the bag and found his toy. He looked at it and looked at it. I could not think what was wrong. He then went over to his toy box in the laundry room and came back with a toy and placed it next to the new toy. And guess what, I had bought the exact same one. This way his way of telling me I messed up again. When he placed the old toy on the floor he looked up at me and walked away. All’s I can say is I did it again. I think I need to find a new way of giving him a treat otherwise I need to take inventory of his toy box before I leave home.

Can she buy me the right dog toy?
I think I’ve spoiled Romeo…
Usually when I come home from shopping I place all of my bags on the floor as I unload the trunk of my car. When I do Romeo goes by and looks in each bag, trying to find a toy gift that I buy for him. So today as I placed my bags on the floor which was about 6 bags I saw Romeo looking in the bags for his dog toy. Well, the only problem is that I forgot to buy one this time. It was very obvious that he was disappointed when he could not find what he was looking for. He turned his back on me and left the room. I had to go looking for him. I found him lying on the foot of my bed laying with his head down. I tried to call him to come, he would not budge. I tried to give him a dog treat he did not want that either. Okay I said I know I messed up I’m sorry. Well you know what this means, I have to make a special trip to the store tomorrow to get him a dog toy. Yes I think Romeo is very spoiled.
Okay normally when I get my keys out Romeo beats me to the door. However, today he would not budge. I though it was strange but did not have time to convince him to go bye bye with me. I thought okay that means I can go into store that I could not normally go with him great. But then again what is he up to. As I was leaving I could see him watching me from the top of the stair. As if to say hurry up and leave already.
Well 4 hours later I now know why he wanted to stay home. I had forgot to take out the trash. I took it out of the can and left the bag on the floor. Last night we had a rack of lamb. I guess since I would not give him any last night he decided he was going to get some anyway. But did he have to make such a mess with the trash. And how many times to I have to lecture him on the fact that lamb bones are bad for him. I guess he puts that lecture right up there with the one I gave him when he stole my chocolate.
