Is this normal behavior? Yes it is normal for when two dogs meet for the first time to run to each other and circle around each other. The circling around each other is their way of seeing who should be in charge. You may see raised tail flagging, jumping, pawing and hear some growling or mounting. After all of this is established the two dog will get along as long as the owners do not get in the way, or give off vibes that they should not.
Remember a dog usually will not run towards a dog of his own species. If so keep an eye out for an attack, which could be prompted when a dog is protecting her young or territory. You will most likely see this in dogs that are not well socialized. That’s why play dates at a young age is important.
Your puppy’s first thunderstorm could be a time you will never forget. The best way to help him through this is to do nothing. Act as normal as you can. If you show emotion to the storm or start to baby him it will keep up his fear and he will develop a phobic reaction to each storm. Sot it is better that you continue reading your book or watching TV as if it is just another ordinary day…

Does your pup bark at everything? If the answer is yes. To your puppy this means great things. Because more than likely whatever they are barking at goes away and they feel like they are in charge. Puppies who bark at everything perceives themselves as the boss and not you. They feel as the boss they must guard their territory. You must stop this right away, make sure your puppy knows your the boss and stop the barking That does not mean yelling at your puppy, it means teaching them the appropriate times when to bark. Anytime you hear your puppy starting to bark say Shhht (make sure you emphasis the “T”). Then use a treat to lure him or her back to your side. If your puppy ignores you, place his leash on him and drag him over so that you can gain control.
Kooikerhondje
This dog is similar in size and appearance to a spaniel. their coat is somewhat thick, and medium length. It is bi-colored with white and chestnut red being the most common.
Distinctive features are the black tips on its long, feathered ears, which look like earrings. It is said that the longer the earrings, the more desirable the dog is for breeding and showing.
Their legs are often moderately feathered, while its tail is ideally heavily feathered with white fur. Its muzzle is fairly thin sort of like a spaniel’s. The eyes are dark and tend to have an alert expression.
This dog was bred as an all-purpose dog. They are friendly, yet watchful temperament also makes them a ideal watchdog and family companion. Kooikerhondje can be easily trained without much stress on the trainer. The like and lots and lots of the personal attention.
They will do better when he or she has a great deal of opportunity for exercise. Outdoor or rural areas are ideal, but suburban area can work if nearby parks that is large enough to fulfill the Kooiker’s need for energetic activity. Also keep in mind that a fenced area is helpful to keep the Kooiker from chasing small animals and getting lost.

I always knew that it was important to go to a good breeder or a shelter for a dog, but I understand even better now. A friend of mine got a Jack Russell puppy from a supposable breeder. Well this puppy was 6 weeks old, had worms, no shot, loaded with fleas, ticks and a bacterial infection in his eyes. The only good thing was that the puppy was free, well that was until the puppy was taken to the vet and the bill was over $600.00. And to top it off it is not even a Jack Russell pure bread. He’s mixed with something that will only be determined once he gets a little older. My advice is to be careful and know what your getting yourself into.
Does your puppy have a bad odor, is it making your house smell?
Some common reasons can be:
1)Giving your puppy poor quality food.
2)Your puppy is lacking lots of nutrients.
3)Indigestion or gas might lead to bad odor.
4)Breeding of fleas, ticks, mites or other parasites on you puppy.
5)Not cleaning your puppy often-This can be anything from brushing daily, bathing, or not completely drying your puppy after a bath.
6)An infection in the teeth
All of these signs should not be ignored, they can later lead to more serious problems.
Dog dental problems is one of the most common medical problems. It is recommended that pups should have their teeth brushed daily. Without it, it could lead to foul smelling breath. Not giving your pup proper dental attention your dog can get some of the same dental issues that we get such as cavities, plaque and gingivitis. If not treated it could be painful and result to loss of teeth and infections.
Your puppy should have a beautiful glossy coat, this is a sign of a healthy puppy. Some signs that indicate that there is a problem is:
1)Licking
2)Nibbling
3)Scratching
The way your dogs coat will look is a dull looking coat, hot spot, bare patches, rashes, more shedding than usual, mating, dandruff just to name a few.
What can cause this is a fungal or bacterial infection, eczema, acne, injury from a foreign object that lead to an infection. Some dog are also allergic to inhalants so you need to be careful of the products you use in your house. Best way to keep an eye on your puppy’s coat is with regular grooming and good food products that are free of harmful chemicals. Try giving him more of homemade dog food than commercially process packed or canned dog food. And it’s not a bad idea to give him supplements as well to make sure he has a good balance diet. Follow these simple step you will be on your way to having a healthy puppy. Always remember that if his coat starts to look our of the ordinary then make a trip to your vet.
