What should you look for in ear problems?
Keep an eye out for your puppy rubbing the side of his head against the floor, vigorously scratching his ear or being very sensitive when you touch his ear or any area around his ear. Also look out for a unusual odor and redness or brown crust coming from his ears. These are all signs of an infection.
Dogs that are more prone to infection are ones that have hairy floppy ears or ones that live in high humid climates and could possibly swim often. A common source of an ear infection can be ear mites. Make sure you keep your puppy’s ears clean and dry to help decrease the chance of infection. Not sure if there is an infection then check with your vet. Ask Your Dog Question Now.

Should you always be on the lookout for eye problems?
The answer to this question is yes. Things to look for is excessive tearing, swelling and redness of the eyes. This can be a sign of an eye infection or a bad eye injury. You should check your puppy’s eyes very carefully. These signs could be caused from in-grown eyelashes, allergies, small objects in the eye or an infection just to name a few things.
It could be possible that your puppy has conjunctivitis which is an infection that we associate with people, but our puppies can get it too. With this you can see discharge at the corner of your puppy’s eyes along with redness. This is contagious and can be passed along to humans. You should consult your veterinarian right away for any eye problems.

I think I’ve spoiled Romeo…
Usually when I come home from shopping I place all of my bags on the floor as I unload the trunk of my car. When I do Romeo goes by and looks in each bag, trying to find a toy gift that I buy for him. So today as I placed my bags on the floor which was about 6 bags I saw Romeo looking in the bags for his dog toy. Well, the only problem is that I forgot to buy one this time. It was very obvious that he was disappointed when he could not find what he was looking for. He turned his back on me and left the room. I had to go looking for him. I found him lying on the foot of my bed laying with his head down. I tried to call him to come, he would not budge. I tried to give him a dog treat he did not want that either. Okay I said I know I messed up I’m sorry. Well you know what this means, I have to make a special trip to the store tomorrow to get him a dog toy. Yes I think Romeo is very spoiled.

You may often notice that your puppy breathing changes in extreme heat, after exercise, and becoming excited. This is normal, however if you notice your puppy breathing rapidly under different circumstances you should talk to your vet. Noisy breathing is common in some breeds like the ones that have short faces Pugs are a good example of this. The reasons for this is that these breeds have uniquely formed nasal passages and throats. This can cause snorting, heavy breathing and snoring. However noisy breathing in other breeds can signify some sort of obstruction in their airway, a sign of lung disease or heat failure. You should take your puppy to the vet right away to have him or her properly diagnose.

Okay normally when I get my keys out Romeo beats me to the door. However, today he would not budge. I though it was strange but did not have time to convince him to go bye bye with me. I thought okay that means I can go into store that I could not normally go with him great. But then again what is he up to. As I was leaving I could see him watching me from the top of the stair. As if to say hurry up and leave already.

Well 4 hours later I now know why he wanted to stay home. I had forgot to take out the trash. I took it out of the can and left the bag on the floor. Last night we had a rack of lamb. I guess since I would not give him any last night he decided he was going to get some anyway. But did he have to make such a mess with the trash. And how many times to I have to lecture him on the fact that lamb bones are bad for him. I guess he puts that lecture right up there with the one I gave him when he stole my chocolate.

Now that it’s time to bath your puppy, you should start with a pitcher of clean water close to the tub or sink (which ever you plan to use). This will make rinse off time easier. Before you start you should brush your puppy’s coat to remove any and all tangles. Then place cotton balls in your puppy’s ears to help keep them dry. A good way to keep your puppy still while you give him or her a bath is to place some peanut butter on the inside of the tub or sink, and allow the puppy to lick off the peanut butter.
